Seeking to recreate the sound of a Alamo Paragon Special late 50s or early 60s head through many cabinets, speakers and microphones.
Alamo is a fairly unknown amp manufacturer who started out making other electronics before making their way to instruments and tube amps.
The Paragon Special was their initial top of the line bass amp though much like Fenders Bassman it works beautifully with guitar.
The amp is cathode biased with 2 vintage RCA 5881 tubes, tube rectified and supports two 12ax7 and one 7199 in the preamp. This all tube amp is shockingly interesting.
The EQ on this amp isn’t very sensitive so making EQ adjustments can bring the tone to a more modern sound if that is what is desirable.
Profiling is an art and it is our goal to bring essence of each amp to you.
V1 includes 16 Direct Amp (play your bass) and 48 studio profiles using Mesa and Marshall 4x12s with Alnico Cream, V30 and GT75 mic’d with a Shure Unidyne III 545s, MD421 II, Heil PR20 and a AKG 414xls.
More to come.
